Thursday, June 10, 2008-thousands watched Waugh painted live to the music of the "Gipsy Kings" at the Henley Festival in Oxfordshire, England on the banks of the beautiful Thames River.
The original piece that Eric created live was purchased on the spot with proceeds going to benefit the Henley Festival Trust to finance charitable activity such as music and arts activity in local schools, instruments for promising young musicians and music therapy for brain-injured attendees at Headway day centre in Townlands Hospital, Henley-on-Thames.

Friday, April 4th-Pace Academy hosted Waugh’s unique performance as part of their annual fundraiser event, this year dubbed “A Knight on Broadway.” In anticipation of Waugh’s appearance, the Lower School children created 3 pieces of art from sketches Waugh provided in advance. Waugh then painted live for the Middle School students and teachers at the Fine Art Center; the performance features Waugh’s own background screen design as well as his self-composed music. Saturday, April 5th-Waugh again painted live for Pace parents and supporters at the “A Knight on Broadway” Fundraising event at the Greek Cathedral of Atlanta.

Waugh debuts his new performance staging that was devised and built by him. It includes a backlit projector & screen that shows a constantly changing video that was developed & produced by him. The original music score was created by Eric himself. His creation enhances the audience enjoyment of his live painting performances.

Saturday, June 9th: Eric Waugh painted live at "An Evening with Larry King and Friends" to benefit The Larry King Cardiac Foundation Gala at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, DC. Waugh created a special original work for Mr. King to celebrate his 50 years in television and donated the piece he created live at the event, as well as other original works for auction to benefit the foundation.

Waugh painted to the music of Donna Summer as well as recording artist Mark Broussard during the event.

Saturday May 30th & Sunday May 31st: Waugh painted live at the 30th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival with Jazz legends Herbie Hancock and Pete Escovado and Sheila E. The concert in Piedmont Park drew 85,000 jazz lovers who watched Waugh create his art to the music. This year concludes Waugh's reign as official artist of the Atlanta Jazz Festival 2004-2007.

Sunday May 20th: Eric Waugh created a 30' mural over 36 hours which was featured in the 2 hr. season finale of "Extreme Home Makeover" that aired on ABC-TV. The episode featured Camp Heartland which is a summer camp for children affected by HIV and AIDS which Waugh has been supporting for 12 years. Waugh's efforts have helped to send over 600 children to the camp.

Waugh along with actress/singer Mandy Moore and EHM designer, Ty Pennington attended the reveal where the children, builders, volunteers, and families of Camp Heartland gathered to see the results of the camp makeover.

May 4th & 5th, 2007: Vinings Gallery in Smyrna, GA, featured Waugh and his art at a gallery showing as a kick-off event for the Atlanta Jazz Festival's "31 days of Jazz" during the month of May. (Waugh is the official artist of the Atlanta Jazz Festival 2004-2007). The amazing Rita Graham provided musical inspiration for the artwork as Waugh created an original painting live during the event.

February 1, 2007: Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell invite Waugh to appear at their annual “Immaculate Reception & Dinner Benefit” in Miami during Super Bowl week. Proceeds from the event benefit the Children’s Miracle Network and CURE International. Waugh paints live with musical inspiration from Allan Harris. Waugh donated the original work of art he painted live to the auction.

 

February 1, 2007: Eric Waugh painted live on NBC 6 Miami & donates the piece to benefit local elementary school children. Here he poses with the "South Florida Today" news team.

September 30, 2006:
Artist Eric Waugh presented First "Waugh Award" to Ginny Dennehy of Whistler BC, the recipient of the first annual "Waugh Award," which recognizes individuals "doing good" in their community. The Waugh Award consists of a special plaque and a collection of paintings that Waugh created especially for Ginny. The award was presented at a Wine & Cheese reception in association with The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation.

 

June 22, 2006: Waugh paints live at the Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium, in Atlanta, GA, for a private event. Hundreds watch entranced as Waugh paints these beluga whales by request in honor of the Aquarium.

June 11, 2006: Waugh original artwork is featured at the 60th Anniversary Tony Awards Sunday night on CBS live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. “Love on Broadway” is displayed in the “green room” and signed by all the presenters. Waugh donates the piece for auction at a Tony Award fundraising event.

June 4, 2006: Tens of thousands line the Erie Canal as Waugh paints the 70-piece Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and its conductor Jeff Tyzik. The pops concert and painting performance takes place aboard a 120-by-30 foot NY State barge anchored in the Canal and celebrates Fairport (NY) Canal Days. Waugh donates the 8' x 5' work for a raffle to raise funds for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s education efforts.

May 29 & 30, 2006: Waugh painted live in front of tens of thousands onlookers at the Atlanta Jazz Festival with headliners "The Barry Harris Trio" with special guest, Charles McPherson, and with the amazing "Yellowjackets"(pictured).

March 2-6, 2006: Waugh was invited by ArtExpo New York to paint live during the event. ArtExpo is the largest art show in the world and both ABC and NBC covered Eric's painting performances on live TV. All of the pieces that Eric painted live were then donated to the NY Chapter of the Startlight Starbright Foundation to help seriously ill children and families in the Tri-State area.

October 27, 2005: Waugh introduces his newest works of art at the Nan Miller Gallery in Rochester, NY. Waugh painted "Red Door" live on-air on “Wake Up, Rochester” WROC-TV (CBS). All of the proceeds from the sale of the piece were donated to Gilda’s Club of Rochester which helps those affected by cancer.

State Assemblyman, Joe Morelle (pictured with Waugh), Chairman of the NY Assembly Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Sports Development, attends the gallery opening to experience the exciting new directions Waugh is taking in his art.

October 14, 2005: New York State Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz surprises Waugh at the Brooklyn Boy Scouts Fundraiser by awarding him a New York State Resolution honoring Waugh for his philanthropic efforts, especially those related to children. Waugh has long contributed to various charitable organizations across the United States and Canada, helping to raise over $500,000 in the last few years alone.

Waugh painted live at the Brooklyn Boy Scouts Fundraiser as well. Inspired by members of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the smooth vocals of Allan Harris, Waugh creates an original work of art that he donates to the Fundraiser. He also donated additional new works to that evenings auction, raising over $15,000 to send special-needs children to summer camp.

September 23, 2005: Waugh is featured artist at "The Night in Hollywood" benefit for Gilda's Club of Rochester, NY. Waugh paints live during the event and donates the work of art to the live auction. Waugh contributes 100% of proceeds to help Gilda's Club aid people affected by cancer.

September 15, 2005: Waugh is asked to paint live for hundreds of admirers at the House of Blues in Chicago for a Comcast corporate event. For the second time, the amazing Doobie Brothers provide the musical inspiration for Waugh’s creation, “A Night on the Town,” which he paints on the packed dance floor. Waugh also designs the invitation for the annual event.

July 10, 2005: While in Chicago, Waugh thrills guests with his electrifying live painting performance at the Base Bar in the Hard Rock Hotel. He paints “Grand Passion” to the driving musical beat while audiences watch, fascinated by his quick hands and romantic creation.

January 31,2005: During a corporate event in Monterey, CA, Waugh paints live to the heart-pounding rhythms of The Doobie Brothers in front of hundreds of excited fans. The Doobie’s high-energy music inspires Waugh to create “Takin’ It to the Streets” as he paints to the upbeat lyrics and driving rhythms.

June 8, 2004: Waugh accepts an invitation to appear at the world-famous BB King Blues Club on 42nd Avenue in New York City. Waugh paints live to legendary acoustic guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel, the individual Chet Akins called “the greatest finger picker in the world.” Emmanuel certainly lives up to his reputation as he spurs Waugh to keep up with Emmanuel’s rapid-fire rhythms.

May 27, 2004: Waugh again sets up his easel to benefit one of his favorite charities, Camp Heartland in Minneapolis. Here he paints live with musical inspiration from the incomparable Nelly Furtado and a full-band orchestra at the 3rd Annual Cities 97 Hope in the Heartland Music & Art Auction. Waugh donates his performance piece for auction as well as other Waugh original works of art.

October 22-26, 2003: Waugh heads to the West Coast for 9 performances over 5 nights, painting to the live jazz beat of Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons. Waugh wows audiences at Kimballs East Jazz Club in San Francisco as he paints start to finish during each performance

June 13, 2003: Waugh teams up with legendary vocalist Tony Bennett at the 25th Annual Grand Prix Gala in Montreal, Canada, to aid the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Waugh finds special inspiration from Bennett’s smooth song styling as he paints live, and the audience certainly appreciates the duo’s interaction. Waugh’s performance art raises an impressive $12,000 at the live auction that evening, with all funds going to the charity.

May 24, 2003: Waugh shows his concerns for children’s issues and safety by painting live at the Atlanta Children’s Shelter Charity Jazz Ball. Waugh hits his stride painting to jazz legends Freddy Cole and Jacques Lesure. In a historic painting performance, Waugh amazes the audience by simultaneously painting 4 large canvases suspended by scaffolding during the event. Waugh donates all 4 pieces to the live auction and all the proceeds benefit Atlanta’s displaced children.

May 22, 2003: Waugh returns to Atlanta to demonstrate his interest in the city and his concerns for its residents. This time Waugh paints live for the 15th Annual Taste of the Nation Benefit, which helps fight hunger, particularly for children. Waugh is a big hit at the annual event, painting live to Atlanta’s own Joe Grandson Trio. Sponsor Ted Turner expresses his admiration for Waugh’s talents and thanks him for donating the performance art to the live auction, with proceeds benefiting this worthy cause.
